GOP mannequins appear in Audubon:
Courier Post
08/05/2000

Audubon’s own political jokester, Betty McGarrigan, is at it
again.
She has
dressed four blow-up mannequins in men’s business clothing,
adorned them with masks of Bob Dole, Dan Quayle, George W.
Bush and his presidential father and arranged them in a 1970
VW Beetle, convertible top down, parked in front of the
family business along the White Horse Pike.
Word
balloons attached to each man make mild political jokes:
Quayle’s – if spelled correctly – would say “I want to be
vice president again.”
McGarrigan’s
past display was during the height of the Monica
Lewinsky-Bill Clinton scandal. A Collingswood native,
McGarrigan says she has no political leanings – except to
poke fun.
I’m sort
of like a Jay Leno, I like to get into the funny part of all
this “political stuff”, she said.
Her
kids, 22 and 18 are “mortified”, McGarrigan said, only
half-joking. And Phil, her husband?
He’s
used to me by now”.
The
McGarrigan's gave the mannequins a test run at their home in
the Pocono’s – even had them floating around in canoes.
They’ll return to the mountains next week for a regatta.
While
they’re in Audubon, the mannequins can be seen in the front
parking lot at Universal Electronic Supply Co on the White
Horse Pike. The display is parked inside during rainy
weather
